When it comes to house music there's been something of a renaissance in New York City these past few years, and one of its main advocates is Levon Vincent.
Born in Houston, Texas and raised on the East Coast; he now calls Berlin his home.
He is a real genius, he issued almost all of his 12" output on his own labels, including More Music NY, Novel Sound, and Deconstruct.
His raw brand of dubbed out beats soon went onto find an audience in scene veterans Craig Richards and Berghain's Marcel Dettmann and wider love from the scene at large.
In his career the year 2015 brought the breakthrough, as every decent electronic music magazine highlighted his LP named after himself and put itself in the forefront of the annual top charts. One recipe of his success by Resident Advisor is that only a few producers bare their souls the way Levon Vincent does. His music has an air of catharsis—this is him presenting to the world some complex and even painful part of himself. While its tracklist invoked his departed cat, his own tattoos and the addicts on Berlin's streets, its grey melodies and scuffed-up beats expressed murkier, wordless truths.
